Need Service or Repair?

Automatic Gate Safety Standards

Due to new government safety standards, our company policy will be updated effective January 1st 2019.

We will now require the following for service or repair on any automatic gate system—>>

  • Gate operator(s) must have a manufacturer date of 2002 or newer.
  • Must be UL325 & ASTM F2200 compliant (See below).

  • All safety devices must be operational or system will be shut down until repairs can be made.

  • All systems must be Fire Code compliant. Every area is different but most common devices are: Knox switch and/or Fire Strobe.

  • All gates must have warning signs on each side.

Slide Gate – UL325 Safety Standards

These are basic guidelines, since every site is different, a site safety inspection will be required. Contact us today to schedule!

  • All gates must have screening. A 2 1/4″ sphere cannot pass through any part of gate up to 6′ high from ground. This includes any fence adjacent to slide gate that is within 16″ (See pic below).

  • Gate wheels must be covered to prevent pinch point.

  • Guide rollers must be covered to prevent pinch point.

  • Gate operators manufactured from 2002 to July 2016, require one external safety device in each direction of travel.

  • Gate operators manufactured from August 2016 to current, require two monitored external safety devices in each direction of travel.

  • Gate controls must be a minimum of 6′ from any moving part of gate.

  • Warning signs must be placed on both sides of gate.

Swing Gate – UL325 Safety Standards

These are basic guidelines, since every site is different, a site safety inspection will be required. Contact us today to schedule!

  • Swing gate must not come within 4″ to 16″ of stationary object.

  • Gate operators manufactured from 2002 to July 2016, require one external safety device in one direction of travel.

  • Gate operators manufactured from August 2016 to current, require one/two monitored external safety device in each direction of travel.

  • Gate controls must be a minimum of 6′ from any moving part of gate.

  • Warning signs must be placed on both sides of gate.
